Becoming Resilient

You are invited to join with others across the U.S. to help build a network of resilience-minded individuals, families, neighborhoods, schools, churches, and communities. Our goal? To inspire and support people in taking action at the most local level to strengthen the places where we live.

Formerly operating as Transition US, our newly forming organization will take the best of Transition Town ideas, trainings, and resources, and add in new actions and networking opportunities to address the challenges we face of today.

We are looking for board members (and then advisory committee members) who can bring practical nonprofit management skills, an empowering vision, and a desire to have an impact at the national level.

You can help make community change possible.

Transition Towns in Action

Since its beginning in 2005, the Transition Town movement has engaged thousands of ordinary citizens from all walks of life in taking practical action to create more resilient, connected communities. There are more than 1,100 Transition initiatives in 70 countries, and at one time more than 150 groups in the U.S.

The can-do attitude of Transition Town groups has had widespread appeal. Whether helping people reduce household energy use, learn to grow food, or prepare for extreme weather, people found its focus on neighbors working with neighbors to be inspiring, empowering, and even fun.

The national Transition hub -- Transition US -- supported local group efforts by provided group trainings, print and digital materials, communities of practice for those working on similar issues, webinars, and national conferences. It's website shared the work of local groups and helped people connect with others living nearby.

Still, Transition US had only scratched the surface of what is possible.  We're gearing up to have an even greater impact, with your help.
